The story of Richmond Weddings

Amye and Scott Brunette, Owners of Richmond Weddings

Richmond Weddings started in 1989 as The Wedding Guide, founded by Mickie Bowman. At the time, the Guide was the only staple wedding magazine in Richmond, which allowed local brides to easily find Richmond’s best bridal professionals.

Today, Richmond Weddings remains a local, family-owned business belonging to Bowman’s daughter Amye and her husband Scott. Their respected magazine, website and twice-annual wedding expos help local businesses connect with their perfect brides. “We help brides and local businesses find each other and plan extraordinary events,” says Amye.

Mickie Bowman, Founder of Richmond Weddings

Amye and Scott met in December, 2001 in Los Angeles, California, where Amye had moved in 1998 and where Scott was born and raised. In 2005, Amye’s mother presented them with the opportunity to move to Richmond and buy her business. She was ready to retire and wanted to pass it on to someone who would love and nurture it the way she did. While the move was a big step for Scott and an unexpected one for Amye, both recognized the personal and professional benefits of owning their own business and cherished the idea of doing something together. The couple left Redondo Beach, California in July, 2005, and jumped right into Richmond Weddings!

Scott and Amye agree that their clients are their favorite part of working in the wedding industry. They love the network of friends and connections they have made since taking over the business and consider them an extended family. In her spare time, Amye loves playing with their 2- and 4-year-old sons, hanging out with neighbors, going to the gym, watching reality tv and game night with her husband. Scott also loves family and friend time, as well as watching sports and playing golf. The couple’s dedication to their family, clients and each other give Richmond Weddings an extra infusion of that ingredient that built the wedding industry they serve: love.
