Long Distance Romance:
After previously meeting through mutual friends, Karin, now 32, was in Richmond in October 2008 doing a triathlon when they reconnected. Holt, now 42 and Karin commuted between Arlington and Richmond for the year leading up to their engagement.
Themes of the day:
The focus was on fall/harvest colors – burgundy, chocolate brown, green, and rich yellows and oranges. Sunflowers, the bride’s favorite flowers, were incorporated into the arrangements. Invitations were burgundy, brown and white and the programs were burgundy and white. The bridesmaids dresses were chocolate brown, strapless, t-length dresses.
Centerpieces were glass vases with flower arrangements with candles surrounding the vases. Some vases had only a single sunflower floating in water. Soft lighting and lit fireplaces provided a romantic atmosphere.
Guests were ready with bubbles and sparklers for the big sendoff to Karin and Holt. They were taken away in a vintage 1960 Cadillac owned by one of the groomsmen.
After staying in a suite at The Jefferson Hotel for a night, they left for Cordillera, Colorado for eight days.
