Tell us a little about your business – what does the company do and who are your customers?
I am primarily a wedding photographer but I also do all types of photography. This includes photographing children, families, seniors and bar/bat mitzvahs. Clients that come to me are looking for creative, high quality photographs and an overall stress free experience. I always approach each photo session with new and unique ideas and come well prepared. No two clients are exactly alike and their photos shouldn’t be either.
TELL US ABOUT YOU
Tell us why and how you became involved the business.
I photographed my first wedding 11 years ago and fell in love with it! I knew right then I had found my niche. I even went on to receive my Bachelors of Fine Arts in Photography and Film from VCU. My goal is to always use my creativity and fine art background in all of my photography jobs.
What’s your favorite part of a typical day?
Each part of the day has its own wonderful aspects. The getting ready is great, nerves are flying, there is so much anticipation. I LOVE first looks! It is such a wonderful private moment to photograph, just the two of them, nothing but love. The reception of course is so much fun because everyone is letting loose and having a great time!
Who gives you the best advice about your work?
My husband give me great advice. It also helps greatly that he has a business degree, we make a great team.
What accomplishment are you most proud of?
I am extremely proud of the fact that I am a mom and a businesswoman. It has been an interesting and challenging road trying to find how to balance it all. I feel I am doing a great job both at home and professionally.
What part of your job would you gladly give up?
I work very hard, there are definitely some long nights editing that can be tiring. I am a bit of a perfectionist, my clients can rest assured that I put in all the hours necessary to get the job done.
What do you do to relax/unwind?
Yoga is a must for this busy mom! I also enjoy a good glass of wine or getting lost in a great book.
What is your favorite thing about Richmond?
I am really into history and Richmond definitely has a lot of it! The older buildings have so much texture that create wonderful, intriguing backdrops for photographs. The streets and alley ways create the most amazing light.
What would we be surprised to learn about you?
I actually opened up a gallery and studio about a year ago. It has been so much fun to have all different types of art/artists. We even have art openings, it has been a great thing for our little community.
