Have you discovered Pinterest yet? The idea-board generating website that allows you to “pin” photos that inspire you is growing fast, highly functional and totally addictive. It is a gift from the heavens to brides and grooms planning a wedding and looking for a way to easily store and share the images that excite their imaginations.
You can find practically anything on Pinterest. If you are searching for the perfect favor, or the prettiest flowers, simply enter any and all related search terms and see what appears! Pinterest has pre-defined dozens of categories that you can simply select and start surfing as well. Photos are all linked to their originating websites, so when you find something you can’t live without, you should easily be able to determine how to get it. It is a popular site among DIY-ers, so many times you can find instructions on how to craft what you see.
When you find something you love, create a board, or a category, to help you sort through your treasure trove of ideas later. Many brides start different boards for Ceremonies, Receptions, Flowers and anything else that catches their eye. If you don’t know where to begin your searches, enter a broad category like “mansion weddings” or “wedding photos” and dive deep into the layers of photos posted by pros and other brides. Just make sure you have lots of time on your hands as most people end up pleasantly engulfed in Pinterest for hours on end!
Once you have filled your boards with photos of your future wedding, it is easy to share them with your fiancé, friends, family and even the wedding professionals you have hired. Initiate non-members into the fun by sending them “invitations” to join which you can generate easily on Pinterest. You can also search and find people or brands you know, and follow either everything they pin or their individual boards. Tell your wedding professionals to find your username on Pinterest the same way you might connect on Facebook or Twitter. You’ll both benefit from the chance to better visualize what you have in mind for your wedding celebration.
Please note that every user must read and understand the Pinterest rules of use and make sure you are comfortably in compliance before pinning. Photos are often copyrighted works and Pinterest has a pretty extensive liability release that places responsibility on the user for pinning appropriately. It is a new and evolving medium full of excitement but worthy of cautious use.
It’s time to get inspired! Join the millions of users who are already pinning the internet one image at a time to their dream boards, and start planning and pinning your big day!
