In this uncertain time, there are a lot of questions and worries that come with planning a wedding. We reached out to our vendors for advice to couples. After all, they’re the professionals! Here’s what a few had to say:

Nina with Classic Party Rentals of Virginia: “Take a deep breath. Changing the date doesn’t change your love for each other. And 2 years from now the date change won’t matter…As long as you’re married to your soulmate it shouldn’t matter what the date was.”

Angela with XOXO Wedding Co.: “My advice is to change the date so you can enjoy every moment with the ones you love and not worry about the stresses of this pandemic and the mandates. On the original date you were supposed to get married do something nice together. Dress up, dim the lights, light some candles, make a special dinner together, and dance to your first dance song.”

Captain Rob with Capt. Rob’s Pigalicious Signature Barbecue Catering: “Don’t cancel. You will lose all your deposits. Reschedule for later this fall/winter. Most folks will honor the amount paid for 1 year.”

Crystal with Main Street Station: “Be flexible if you want to get married in 2020. Consider a Friday or Sunday and different times of the day. Who doesn’t love a brunch wedding?!”

Patrick with Classic Party Rentals of Virginia: “To all of my couples that are planning their big day: Although you have had to move the date–at the end of the day you have more time to make sure your day is perfect for you, your family and friends.”

Paula with Historic Mankin Mansion: “We’re all in this together! Patience and gratitude for one another is what will get us through!”

Kim Moody with Kim Moody Design and The Estate at River Run: “If you are in the beginning stages of planning, support vendors that you feel you can trust. Review contracts, ask questions, hire a planner, and know that it is your vendors and their relationships with the rest of the vendor team that will likely get you through any tough situations that may arise. Choose your squad wisely! Invest well in the best day of your lives!”

Debra with Relish Photography by Lee: “Do not panic. This too will pass. Reschedule your wedding date, do not cancel it. You deserve your special day. Take several deep breaths, remain calm, and pause for a moment of gratitude that you and your loved ones are safe and healthy. Relish that you are engaged and have a committed partner that you will be spending the rest of your life with. Even though, as a nation, we are currently facing a crisis, the love you have with your partner is not going to change, regardless of what going on in the world.”
