Real Richmond Wedding: Jasmine and Jarrael at The Dominion Club
Jasmine and Jarrael
August 19, 2018
How They Met
Jarrael and Jasmine met at Virginia State University in 2009 during their Freshman year. It wasn’t until the next semester, on Valentine’s day, that they went on their first date. Jasmine explains, “[He] treated me to IHop after formally asking me to be his girlfriend. He had steak tips and I had an omelet. The beginning of forever!”
The Proposal
Jarrael asked Jasmine to spend the rest of her life with him on Mother’s Day 2017 in Petersburg, Virginia. “That Sunday, my family decided to have brunch together before everyone got on the road. What I thought was just a family brunch, turned into one of the most memorable days of my life.” After ordering, everyone was talking about what a great time they had as a family. Jasmine looked up and saw Jarrael and four of their friends coming around the corner. “I was in complete shock and thought, ‘OK Jasmine, do not get your hopes up this is just a Mother’s Day surprise!'” But Jasmine was wrong. After seven years of dating and starting a family, Jarrael got down on one knee in front of their family and friends, asking Jasmine to be his wife.
The Details
“I chose The Dominion Club because I loved everything they had to offer and the scenery was picture perfect.” During their ceremony, the two chose to write their own vows. “Jarrael was a complete showoff and memorized his, however, I had to pull out my iPhone because I was a complete ball of nerves.” They also jumped a broom, which sits in their living room today!
Their theme for their August wedding was Modern Chic. Each attendee was asked to wear all black and Jasmine, Jarrael, and McKenna (their daughter) all wore white. “I wanted everything clean cut and simple with a twist of bling.” Their reception carried on the black and white theme with black table cloths and white accents. The Dominion Club’s “Ring of Fire” lit the venue. “The ring of fire is a collection of over 300 floating candles surrounding the ceiling.”
With their guests in all black, Jasmine and Jarrael danced the rest of the night away. Their perfect August night coming to an end with a sparkler exit fit for a king and queen.
Favorite Part of the Day
“We enjoyed dancing the night away with our family and friends!”
Biggest Challenge
“Everything was a challenge, I felt like I was going crazy from the time I said yes until the time I said ‘I do.’ Making sure everyone who RSVP’d was accounted for and had the correct meal was tough”
