Lauren and John

How They Met
Lauren and John met in high school at a mutual friend’s house. After parting ways that day they texted all night and the rest is history!

The Proposal
John planned a clever proposal for his high school sweetheart. He had a photographer friend of Lauren’s reached out to her and ask if she and John would like to participate in a photoshoot. They agreed and little did Lauren know, she was in for the biggest surprise of her life! On the day of the shoot, the photographer had them head down to the side of a lake where she instructed Lauren to face the lake and John stand behind her. On the count of three, Lauren turned around to John on one knee with a ring in his hand. She recalls, “It was so amazing and it was one of the best days ever!”

The Details
The pair decided on a barn venue because it had both a rustic and timeless feel. To decorate the gorgeous space, they kept things natural with lots of greenery. Elegant accents like candles and lanterns added warmth to the space and were perfectly complemented by a neutral color scheme. The addition of a special memorial table for Lauren’s grandparents who had passed was a heartfelt touch that tied everything together in the most perfect way!

They wanted to have a traditional outdoor ceremony and luckily, the weather on their wedding day couldn’t have been any more perfect! While it was a little windy, everything went exactly as they pictured with the addition of an unexpected surprise, “Since it was so windy that day, my veil ended up blowing off in the ceremony and my best friend caught it in one hand with her bouquet in the other!”

Following the ceremony, everyone headed inside to enjoy either a build-your-own pasta bar or chicken, mashed potatoes, and broccoli. To keep things very “them” alongside the meal options, they offered beer and wine from one of their favorite wineries in Richmond.

Favorite Part of the Day
“My favorite part of the day was when I saw John for the first time walking down the aisle. It had been a long day without talking or seeing each other and I was so excited to see him. John says his favorite part of the day was getting to marry me!”

Biggest Challenge
“Having everyone have opinions about things! And trying to please everyone!”

Best Piece of Advice
“Don’t focus too much on all the little details, at the end of the day you two will be married no matter what happens!”
