Real RVA Wedding: Brittany & Clayton
Brittany & Clayton

How They Met
After attending high school together, Brittany and Clayton finally noticed each other the end of their freshman year of college. Brittany noticed Clayton’s new haircut and developed a crush. By the end of that summer, they were officially a couple.
How He Asked
When Brittany and Clayton headed to Buckroe Beach one summer afternoon, she was not expecting a proposal. After dinner, Clayton kept insisting they go back to beach even though it was dark. He said he wanted to hunt for crabs by flashlight the way he and his mom used to do. Once they got down to the water, Clayton turned to her and started to talk. Brittany says, “I honestly don’t remember much of what he said because I was in shock as he got down on one knee. Of course, I said yes!”
Decor Details
Brittany wanted to keep their wedding simple and elegant. After growing up in Brandermill, The Boathouse at Sunday Park was an easy choice because of the beautiful scenery and excellent food. Brittany raves about the service they received from Susan, the venue coordinator for The Boathouse at Sunday Park, and the rest of the staff. She says, “I didn’t have to worry about a thing the entire day because Susan was there keeping things flowing smoothly and coordinating with the DJ and Sean DeWitt (the photographer she and Clayton found at the Richmond Wedding Expo!).” The couple then chose to decorate the space with greens, blues and yellows to go with Brittany’s absolute favorite thing: sunflowers.
From the bride: “My favorite moment was before the ceremony & right after. I loved turning the corner and seeing Clayton standing at the end of the aisle waiting for me. And then I was so excited that the ceremony was complete, and we were finally married. I loved walking down the aisle with my HUSBAND! It was a perfect moment, and I couldn’t have been happier.”
How cool is this shot from Sean DeWitt?? Brittany & Clayton met & booked Sean at the Richmond Wedding Expo!
When it came to wow-ing their guests, Brittany & Clayton wanted their reception to really stand out. The couple wanted everyone to enjoy some delicious food from the Boathouse and then get on the dance floor!
