Real RVA Wedding: Caroline & Kevin
Caroline & Kevin
May 30, 2015
Caroline and Kevin were both living in the Fan, just a few streets from one another, when they met through mutual friends nine years ago. Caroline had invited Kevin to a Virginia Tech vs. Wake Forest game, then Kevin took her out to her favorite restaurant, Edo Squid. On the beaches of Emerald Isle one Spring Break, Kevin got down on one knee to propose at sunset with their dog, Beamer, as their witness.
Caroline’s dad is one of our oldest clients & the owner of Manny Green Entertainment! He was not, however, her DJ!
Caroline says, “I fell in love with my wedding dress before I even tried it on! It was the only gown that I would try on, and it ended up being our inspiration for the type of wedding we wanted. Later, my mother found the perfect Kate Spade feather heels.” Jahee Kwon, the designer and seamstress who did Caroline’s dress alterations, created a custom 2-tiered veil which was worn in the front for the walk down the aisle.
It didn’t take long for this history-loving Southern couple to fall in love with Westover Plantation. With its stately architecture and views of the James River, it made for the perfect location for their Southern celebration.
Caroline tells us, “I wanted my bridesmaids to be able to wear whatever dress they felt most beautiful in, so I only gave them the color scheme and theme of the wedding to make their choice. As long as they picked a dress that glistened in the sun, I was happy! We did not see what everyone was wearing until the day of the wedding. All eight bridesmaids looked stunning!”
After trying on the Monique Lhuillier creation of lace, organza and feathers, Caroline knew the theme would be art deco elegance. She and Kevin wanted their guests to feel glamour and excitement and party like Gatsby for the evening. The couple was thrilled to see their guests take the theme on fully in seersucker suits, white dinner jackets and bow ties!
