Real RVA Wedding: Emily & Jared’s Virginia Barn Wedding Photos
Emily & Jared
June 18, 2016
How They Met
Emily and Jared first met at a Capital One lunch with mutual friends. After hanging out a few times, both of them realized they had more in common than expected. Fast forward two years later, and Jared is still convincing Emily to go on dates. Shared interests like hiking, exercising, home renovation projects, and forcing cats into uncomfortable photos has allowed them to grow closer along the way.
How He Asked
Jared tells us, “For Emily’s birthday, I booked a weekend away at a cabin in the Charlottesville area. One of our first dates was hiking Humpback Rocks, so on Saturday I planned to surprise her with that hike and the proposal. When we went to leave, our car battery had died, and I had to disguise my internal panic attack. Luckily, the cabin owners were able to jump our car, and we made it to the peak right at sunset.
The Perfect Place
Emily says, “We loved the rustic feel of the barn at Virginia Barn Weddings as well as all of the open space. We also liked that the proceeds went to support the Adams International School!
I told our planner, Marylee, that I loved rustic and showed her some Pinterest pictures, and she made it all happen! Also, we love some of our local Richmond businesses, like Pearl’s and Bluebee Cider, so those were a must to incorporate!
The WOW Factor
We really wanted to have something different for dessert (cupcakes instead of cake), a special ceremony, and we also learned a dance for our first dance as husband and wife.”
The Best Part
Emily says, “My favorite part of the day was definitely the ceremony. Standing at the alter with Jared was such a special and powerful moment. I also loved having all of our friends and family there and getting to visit with them since most live out of state. Jared pick the same two parts, and we both also loved the food, especially dessert!”
