Tell us a little about your company!

We are a full service, family-owned and operated rental company serving all of the central Virginia area. We carry a wide variety of tents, tables, chairs, linens, china, and pretty much anything that you might need for a wedding.

How did you get started in this business?

We decided to get into the equipment rental business in 1999, and then started renting event rental items in 2004. We saw a need in our market for a rental full service company that carries everything that you will need for your event.

What differentiates you from other businesses in your field?

We focus on providing the best level of customer service that we possibly can. We have a 24 hour a day phone number that we can be reached on at any time. We also go the extra mile to make sure that every piece of rental equipment you receive from us is clean and ready for you to use. Whether it is tables and chairs or linens and china, we strive to deliver the highest quality product that you can get.

Rent-E-Quip 3Why do you like working with weddings?

We love the variety that working with brides gives us. When we sit down to work with a bride to help plan their wedding we never know what great ideas they are going to have. No matter how many weddings we have worked on they are all unique.

What is the most difficult situation you have faced with a bride and how did you resolve it?

We got a phone call from one of our customers at midnight the night before a wedding was to take place. A tornado had just came through the area where we had installed two 40’x60′ tents. It had completely destroyed both of the tents, along with a large amount of tables, chairs, china, and linens that were under the tent. Luckily, we still had two additional tents available that weekend, so we started calling our employees early that morning to get them to come in to get to work early. We got two new tents installed and all of the broken tables, chairs, glasses, and dishes replaced and all of the linens washed, dried and back on the tables. When the bride arrived that afternoon she was thrilled with how everything looked and didn’t know anything had gone wrong until we told her.

From a vendor’s perspective, what is the one best piece of advice you can offer to engaged couples?

Plan everything out as thoroughly as you possibly can as far in advance as you possibly can. You don’t want any unplanned surprises on your wedding day. You want to make sure you are very clear on what each of your vendors will provide and what each of them will be responsible for.

You also want to make sure to book your vendors as far in advance as possible to make sure that the people are available that you want to work with.

What or who motivates you?

Our brides, of course! Our biggest motivation is all of our customers. They are why we do what we do and are the driving force behind why we strive to make sure all of rental items stay in great condition. We recognize that our brides and their families are trusting us with one of the most important days of their lives and they expect perfection.

What do you like to do when you are away from work?

We have many different hobbies from Nascar to playing golf. We do our best to take advantage of any free time we have when we are not taking care of our customers!

What would we be surprised to learn about you?

We started Rent-E-Quip in 1999 as strictly a construction and general tool rental company before we decided to dive into wedding and event rentals in 2004.
