Richmond Wedding Venue Spotlight: Magnolia Green Golf Club
Today, we’re excited to introduce Casey, the Director of Sales for Magnolia Green Golf Club!
Tell us a little about your venue!
Magnolia Green Golf Club, centered in the fast-growing and award-winning Magnolia Green community, is widely recognized as one of Richmond’s finest area courses. The Nicklaus Design in association with Tom Clark layout was presented one of the Top 10 Best New Courses by Golf Digest in 2015. Our five million dollar clubhouse is scheduled to open in Fall of 2017. The facility will be an acting restaurant and golf pro shop and also includes a wedding lawn and back patio that will overlook the first and the tenth tee. From a wedding party of 175 to a small intimate meeting for 40, our exceptional staff looks forward to accommodating you.
How did you get started in this business?
I started my venture in the hospitality business in 2008 when I started working on the front desk of a hotel in Zion Crossroads. My path lead me through front desk management, sales, and operations. By 21, I was a General Manager and Director of Sales at a limited service property with 2,800 square feet of banquet space. I fell in love with the event planning industry!
My story moved to Richmond in 2014 when I was offered a Sales Manager position at Crowne Plaza Richmond Downtown. With the combination of the operations and sales background, I was able to transition to a Director of Sales position at Magnolia Green Golf Club in May of 2016.
Why do you like working with weddings?
I love being able to connect with people and help them on such a special day. It’s truly amazing to take the stress off of the client by being the liaison with all the other vendors. I love working with others to make my client’s day go as smoothly as possible. I want to turn the bride & groom’s vision for their perfect day into a reality.
From a vendor’s perspective, what is the one best piece of advice you can offer to engaged couples?
Enjoy the process! Too often, we get caught up in the rush, stress, and madness of planning to stop and really enjoy how special the entire process is. Every piece of planning is put together to make one of the most special moments of your life.
How far in advance should couples book your services?
9-12 months in order to secure their desired date.
What inspired you the most / where do you find inspiration?
I find my inspiration with my faith and through the love of my family and friends. I’m convinced you can get through the darkest days with the right people by your side. Life is all about how you react to what you’re handed. Our perception is everything. We can only go after what we drive ourselves to!
What do you like to do when you are away from work?
I’m not originally from the area, so I make frequent trips back to my home town, Louisa, or spend my time meeting up in the city or outskirts spending time with the people I love. I also enjoy running, painting, and being a part of the Richmond Junior League.
