Richmond Wedding Vendor Spotlight: The Crowling Place
The Crowling Place has a gorgeous new barn that we are so excited to show you all today! Meet Patty, the owner of this lovely farm wedding venue!
Tell us a little about your venue!
The Crowling Place is located about an hour outside of Richmond. Our venue is nestled on a hill with idyllic views of the country. It has a charming farm house that will be a hundred years old next year and a newly built barn for rustic and elegant weddings. The grounds offer several wedding sites and are perfect for tented receptions that can be customized to be all your own. It is perfect for large weddings up to 200 guests.
How did you get started in this business?
My husband and I got started in the business in 2009 when our daughter got married in the front yard under our very large oak tree. The wedding was a beautiful southern wedding and many people encouraged us to make The Crowling Place a wedding venue.
What differentiates you from other businesses in your field?
Our pricing and packages set us apart from the other businesses in this field. We have packages starting as low as $1,899.00. You can do as much or as less as you want to on the day of your wedding. The house is available for families to stay in to lessen the stress of the day. It’s always easier when everything is happening in one place!
Our brand new barn space can hold over a hundred guests. It boasts chandeliers and a second floor loft. We also have an adjacent covered patio that is the perfect place for guests to mingle during cocktail hour.
We are a one stop shop for a venue that can connect you with the right vendors to complete your dream wedding. We have teamed up with a wonderful wedding planner and caterer to make sure your special day goes as planned from start to end.
Why do you like working with weddings?
We love to work with people and this is such a happy time in a couple’s life. It is our hope that The Crowling Place will be a place where love and joy are shared year around.
What is the most difficult situation you have faced with a bride and how did you resolve it?
The most difficult situation that I have faced with a bride was watching her try to please her family and friends and not herself. I explained to the bride that it is her special day, so she should listen to the other suggestions and consider them, but in the end, she needed to follow her own heart!
From a vendor’s perspective, what is the one best piece of advice you can offer to engaged couples?
The best piece of advice I can offer an engaged couple is to live within your means. Don’t try and be something you’re not. Focus on each other and cherish each other. When things do not go your way, be willing to bend and pray together.
What or who motivates you?
I am motivated by my family and grand children. They are the most important aspect of my life.
What do you like to do when you are away from work?
When I am away from work, I love to be with my family. I like to fish and drink coffee.
