What We Look For: The Behind-the-Scenes Info on Our Blog Exclusive Weddings

You may have noticed recently that we have been featuring more and more blog exclusive weddings!  Since space is so very limited in our magazine, we wanted to make sure that we still get to showcase as many of the beautiful weddings that are submitted to us as we can!

Remember, you can submit a wedding to our blog at ANY time!

If you”™d like to submit your wedding to our blog, whether you were the bride, the photographer, the planner, etc, you can find the submission form  here. But before you submit, here are some things we look for:

It’s All in the Details

When choosing weddings for our magazine & blog, we look for details that we”™ve never seen before. We want to show our readers creative new ideas that will make their wheels start turning. Of course, there are trends that appear in many weddings (pastel peonies, anyone??) but be sure to put your own unique spin on them!

Real in RVA

Of course, we love a good destination wedding, but we also love to showcase our beloved city! We always want to know what about your wedding is a Richmond wedding. Did you give out Richmond-themed favors even though your wedding was somewhere tropical? Was there a local Richmond band playing at the reception? Did you do your portraits overlooking the city skyline? The more you tell us, the more we have to base our decision on, which brings me to my next point . . .

Give Us the Scoop

The submission form is your chance to really sell to us! We want to know YOU and why your wedding is unique. Don’t hesitate to give us the top three reasons we should choose your wedding!

For Photographers

We know there are a million things to think about when shooting a wedding, shooting to tell the story should always be in the back of your mind. While we can only allow a set amount of photos to be submitted, there are certain photos that we will always want to see if we choose a wedding of yours for featuring:

  • One portrait of the couple together
  • A full room/scene shot of the ceremony and reception
  • DETAILS DETAILS DETAILS! Remember, a bride a groom kissing in front of the officiant, a bride getting her makeup done, a groom putting on his tux, etc. will always be classic photos. It’s the details, however, that we want to see and that will set your submission apart. These details include the flowers, cake, table settings, escort cards, signage, stationery, etc.
  • A ring shot. We love to see the bling!

Of course, these are just a few examples to keep in mind when choosing what to submit. Remember, we want to see unique weddings that scream Richmond!
