If you care to share, how did you get to where you are now? What drew you to the wedding industry? I got to where I am now by staying consistent and being blessed by friends who have trusted me with their visions. My first ever solo wedding was from a high school friend who saw me grinding and realized my passion for wedding photography. From there, I’ve been fortunate enough to travel to Los Angeles, CA and Las Vegas, NV to perform my talents as a wedding photographer. It’s truly been a blessing, and this is only my first year in the industry.
What’s your favorite thing about working in the wedding industry? My favorite thing about working in the wedding industry is being able to capture once in a lifetime raw emotions, and transforming them into art.
What’s a unique tip you tell your couples? Don’t try to be supermodels when the cameras come out. Just be who you are day in and day out. Your love and desire for one another will shine through the images if you’re genuine to who you really are.
What’s your best piece of advice for couples planning a wedding? Don’t cut corners being cheap. Sounds very cliche, but you truly pay for what you get. In all aspects of life. This is the biggest day of your life !! Your guests deserve the best from the best. It’s only right that you make the day memorable with quality products and services.
What advice would you give to someone just starting their own business? Network network network. All payments aren’t monitory. Meaning, sometimes a relationship built with a company or another professional within the industry is more valuable than a paid invoice. Also, stay consistent. Which doesn’t mean take every single opportunity presented to you, because you still have to protect your brand, however, stay on the grind and don’t stop. You’d be surprised at who is watching you and gaining inspiration.
What are your favorite wedding trends right now? It kinda looks tacky, but I’ve been seeing the bridal party wear different shades of one color instead of everyone wearing the same exact color. I must say, as a photographer, it looks pretty cool.
What is your favorite ‘first dance’ song? Musiq Soulchild – So Beautiful
What’s a funny/awesome story from a wedding you’ve worked? I had a small wedding ceremony to capture in Vegas. We all went out the night prior the the wedding, and MANNN .. let’s just say I’m very thankful that the bride is now ok . What happens in Vegas, truly stays there lol. We were walking back to our hotel after the sun had already risen. It truly felt as if we were apart of the ‘Hangover’ movie.
How do you de-stress? I’m big on physical health, so I spend a lot of time in the gym. Throwing around heavy weights and pushing my body to the limit is very calming and therapeutic to me.
What is the last book you read, or movie you watched? Book – Atomic Habits by James Clear, bonus book: Outliers – Malcolm Gladwell
What’s a fun or unusual fact about you? I’m ultra competitive. I’m also terrified of heights, but I’ll ride a roller coaster. Weird, I know.
Do you love to travel? If so, what are some must-see destinations or where to next? Traveling is literally my favorite, most expensive hobby, 10 countries and counting. Rome is by far my favorite destination that I’ve traveled to. It’s hard for me to really express how cool and historic the architecture feels when you’re there. Some of those buildings leave you with a “wow, I can’t believe this was built so long ago” feeling. The street music is A1, the food is A1, the whole aura over there just feels amazing. Plus we did the Colosseum tour, wow.
Do you have a pet? If so, what’s their name and what are they like? I have a pet cat (Orange Haired Tabby) named Cole, named after my favorite current musical artist, J. Cole. He looks like Garfiled, and my daughter Sianna loves to pick and play with him. They’re like BFFs.
