How did you get started in this business?
I have been a professional makeup artist since 2007, but my passion for makeup started when I was about 12 years old. I remember ripping magazine pages and recreating the looks over and over again until I was happy with the result! Then, naturally, I moved on to my friends and family – I am so thankful to them for letting me experiment all sorts of crazy looks, not always flattering by the way! I took my love for healthy skin, which I believe is the base to great looking makeup, one step further in 2010 by becoming a licensed esthetician in the state of Virginia by attending the AVEDA Institute in Washington D.C. After graduating I went on to work as an esthetician and makeup artist at local spas including Salon del Sol in Midlothian, VA.  In 2015 I did my first “on location” wedding and I fell in love! There is something magical that happens the day of a wedding and I adore being a part of it.

What’s your favorite wedding story?
I could not choose one! I would say they all are and that is why I love weddings, there is not one like the other. I really enjoy getting to know my clients, finding out what they want on their big day and delivering just that!

Why do you like working with weddings?
I really enjoy the energy on a wedding day, so much has gone into making that perfect moment for the couple. There is something magical about being a part of something so special and intimate as a wedding.

What is the most difficult situation you have faced with a bride and how did you resolve it?
Staying on schedule is one of the most difficult situations I deal with sometimes. I like to minimize the likelihood of this happening by providing a timeline of who is getting what done when this way bridesmaids know when they need to be ready to get their makeup done regardless of how hectic the day is.

From a vendor’s perspective, what is the one best piece of advice you can offer to engaged couples?
As a makeup vendor, I would advise brides to be to look at your makeup artist portfolio and make sure you like their artistry before committing to an artist. Makeup is a form of art and there is a variety of artists with a variety of styles.

How far in advance should couples book your services?
Ideally, 12-9 months.

What inspires you the most / where do you find inspiration?
What inspires me the most is a “naked face” a clean, makeup-free face!

What do you like to do when you are away from work?
I enjoy spending time with my dog, husband, and very soon daughter. We love to go hiking together and exploring new local restaurants. I also enjoy cooking, reading, going to Sephora and watching youtube videos (especially Linda Eldridge) and spending time with my siblings and parents!
