Meet Philip Sal & Antonio Mannino, owners of Roma Restaurant, Catering and Events. As frequent restaurant clientele when we lived nearby, as well as being at many of their catered events, we can vouch for the authenticity and burst of flavor in each dish. And they’re a great family to boot!

If you care to share, how did you get to where you are now?
We grew up in the family business. Our parents would take us to work with them when we were young. That was our daycare, hanging out at the restaurant while our parents worked. As we got older we were put to work doing small jobs around the restaurant like cleaning tables. The older we got, the more we had to do and the more responsibility we had to take on. We now run the businesses with our parents by our sides.

What makes you or your business stand out and why should a couple hire you?
We are family oriented with years of experience. We are not just a one dimensional catering company, we have a restaurant which we run year round servicing guests at all times and we hold smaller events at the restaurants like rehearsal dinners, birthdays, anniversaries, etc. I think what really makes us stand out as a catering company is we have a mobile kitchen that we use to cater weddings and are able to prepare and cook food fresh onsite!

What’s your favorite thing about working in the wedding industry?
Meeting the different types of people and families. We get to build relationships that lasts a lifetime. We love seeing couples getting married and start families and being able to see them again when they visit our restaurants. It’s a great feeling.

What’s a unique tip you tell your couples?
It’s your day! Do not stress about trying to make everyone happy. It is tough because everyone is different and likes different types of food. If you have guests with certain food allergies, we can prepare something that they will enjoy.

What’s your best piece of advice for couples planning a wedding?
Make a plan and take it one step at a time. Setting your date and booking your venue are the most important to set first, but we always say that food is the most important 😁

What are your favorite wedding trends right now?
Just being able to cater weddings again with all this craziness going on.

What’s your favorite food/dish/cuisine?
Italian of course…….PASTA!!!

Do you love to travel?
If so, what are some must-see destinations? Yes. We do not get to travel as much as we would like because of running the restaurants but I would say the different parts of Italy is a must see. They have many nice beaches to visit.

What is your favorite season of the year and why?
Fall & winter. The holiday season is great. Everyone is happy and we usually get busy around that time of the year so that is a plus.

What’s your favorite family tradition?
Family dinner on Sundays ( when we can). We all get together and have dinner at our parents. Lots of food and good times.
