Ask any wedding professional, and they will probably tell you how much their views on their jobs changed upon getting engaged themselves. Caroline Birgmann (better known as @TheCarolineDoll to her nearly 13k Instagram followers), owner of Posh PR and The Caroline Doll Shop, is no different. After her June 2016 engagement, Caroline went from wedding planner to #theweddingplannerbride and #theblondegreek. This June, she will be Caroline Kalentzos!
For a wedding planner, it can feel like a Herculean task to plan your OWN wedding. “Two of my brides just had an intervention with me. They made me block off two hours, and we planned my wedding. I have to take care of everyone else first, but I was crazy to think I could do the planning on my own! You just get tapped out on making decisions, so you need outside perspective.”
But what has she learned from being a bride? Caroline says, “I now realize that the most important thing to a bride is FEELING like a bride. I want someone to send ME pretty mail like I send my brides! I never realized how important that it is. What I’ve been doing and how I’ve been serving my brides is actually SO important.
“The littlest things are exciting, like your own cocktail napkins,” Caroline says. “It’s a new way to relate. At first, I was really shy about it, but my brides want to hear about my wedding plans, too. They’re even more excited to relate on a bride to bride level.”
Between wedding planning sessions, Caroline is ready for a year of more fashion PR clients than ever before. Working as a brand ambassador for top brands like Kate Spade New York, Bloomingdales, Anthropologie, and Tiffanys & Co., Caroline has become an expert on fashion, lifestyle, and brand marketing.
“There are some exciting things in the works that may or may not involve TV,” Caroline hints. “2017 is going to be heavy on the fashion PR side. I am interested in exclusively service full-service brides who want planning and design. I am taking less brides than ever so I can do the most for my clients!”
As we text back and forth to plan this shoot, Caroline writes, “I always go ABOVE AND BEYOND with things, then I chat it out to be logistical and realistic!” That is, I think, the secret to Caroline’s success. She starts with a big idea, then works with meticulous organization to make that big idea work within the scope of whatever she is tackling, whether it’s making herself into a lifestyle and fashion expert or planning a wedding for a Posh PR bride.
