Michelle Kuzmick Photography is a boutique photography experience for the woman who likes to treat herself to something special. I not only enjoy creating beautiful images and documenting memories, I love to make each and every one of my couples feel special. The images are just the icing on the cake.
How did you get started in this business?
I got started in business in 2000 while taking a class at Michael’s, believe it or not! I took in some snapshots from a beach trip, and the instructor liked them so she asked me to shoot her wedding. That family began referring me over and over and Michelle Kuzmick Photography was born.
What’s your favorite wedding story?
Oh! I have MANY! Let’s see – the sweetest HAS to be the groom who brought out a basin of water and had his bride sit down while he washed her feet. He wanted to begin his marriage serving his bride the way Jesus served his disciples.
Why do you like working with weddings?
I love the relationships I build with my brides! One of my brides from 2006 is getting remarried this year! She asked me to be a GUEST at her wedding so I could enjoy the day with her! That meant a lot to me!
From a vendor’s perspective, what is the one best piece of advice you can offer to engaged couples?
Hire a PROFESSIONAL photographer of course! I’ve had more brides tell me their one biggest wedding day regret was having a family member or friend of the family be in charge of documenting their day.
A close second would be don’t skimp on the DJ! I’ve seen more receptions ruined because of an inexperienced DJ. They set the mood for the reception. At the end of the day your guests won’t remember the walk down the aisle as much as they remember the party afterwards – make it a good one!
How far in advance should couples book your services?
Usually 8 months to 12 months is safe. For popular months I have booked out as far as 24 months. With ALL your vendors – if you KNOW they are the ONE – don’t wait!
What inspired you the most / where do you find inspiration?
I like to capture emotion – so my inspiration comes from watching how the couple interacts and capturing their uniqueness.
What do you like to do when you are away from work?
Sleep. No joke! Being a small business owner and Mom of three I am constantly trying to fit everything in! Sleeping on a beach is ideal.
What would we be surprised to learn about you?
I was an accountant in my “former life.” Seriously, I worked 50+ hours a week and crunched numbers.
