How They Met
Melissa likes to say that she met Garrett through a church friend, but it was actually at a tacky Christmas bar crawl (that the friend invited her to). Melissa’s roommate at the time convinced her to go, lending her a “Nice/Naughty” sweater. That’s when she met Garrett, who was invited by his friend Mike, and the two clicked immediately. Garrett asked Melissa to be his girlfriend on New Year’s Day, just weeks after meeting!
The Proposal
Every anniversary around the NYE holiday, Melissa and Garrett celebrate their anniversary with a trip. To celebrate three years, the pair took off to St. Thomas. Garrett proposed during a sunrise on the balcony. The big surprise? They eloped 6 months before their big day!
A Special Touch
The couple added a fun twist to table numbers by featuring photos of themselves at the age matching each number! Not only was this a great conversation starter, but it also made guests curious enough to walk around to different tables.
Blended Cultures
As a tribute to Melissa’s Spanish heritage, the thank-you speech was delivered in both English and Spanish. The celebration continued with a dance mash-up, ending in a lively Merengue where Garrett showcased his Latin dance moves!
