How they met + proposal
Meghan and Jacob first met in August 12, 2016. According to Meghan, “We originally connected on bumble but the first time we met in person was at at a Richmond flying squirrels baseball game. We spent the whole game talking and bonding over our similarities. As we left each other that evening I knew he was something special.” Two years later Jacob proposed at the Virginia Beach oceanfront while they were attending the Patriotic Festival with Meghan’s sister there to capture it all!

The wedding + details
The two were married at Meadow Event Park in front of the horse stables beneath an old tree surrounded by loved ones. Their personal written vows hang above their bed to remind them of the promises made that day. The historic stables at the venue incorporated their country elegance theme. The slate gray and champagne color palate accented the elements already present in the mansion where the reception was held. As a self proclaimed picky eater, Meghan incorporated lots of southern classics and comfort food such as barbecue, mac n’ cheese, green beans, and hush puppies. Frames, candles, signs, mismatched China and flatware were all elements they brought from their own home to decorate.

Which part of your wedding did you want to WOW your guests?
“I wanted a romantic and elegant atmosphere for the reception. We incorporated large antique mirrors for the seating chart, tailored the timeline with the guest experience in mind and wanted to have a lively celebration. We really wanted people to walk away having enjoyed the evening to the fullest.”

Their favorite parts of the day
Meghan: Our vows. It was such a personal and perfect moment to share with each other.
Jacob: The first dance. They danced to Today by Brad Paisley and Jacob sang every word.

Biggest challenge
“Staying under budget! It’s hard to say no to elements of your wedding that would enhance the day. Not going into debt for the wedding was important to us. We made cuts that needed to be made and did as much extra work as we could to save money in the end.”

Best piece of advice
“Stay calm, this is supposed to be fun! Enjoy the little time you have as an engaged couple. Get a day of coordinator! They are incredibly helpful and can ease worries of <even> the most stressed out bride.
