Rachel + Mark
September 6, 2021
Nobody knows you better than your best friend, so why not marry them? These college sweethearts were friends for five years before they made the leap to turn their friendship into something more. Rachel and Mark went to dinner to celebrate their four-year anniversary, and they made a quick pit stop so that Mark could, “pick something up.” Little did Rachel know, the exact location where Mark has band practice was also set up for a surprise proposal followed by a performance from his band of a song he had written for her. (I know right, a literal scene out of a movie!)
They wanted to take a nontraditional approach to their wedding day, so much so that they thought of everything typical weddings encompassed, and went in the opposite direction. Rachel said no to the classic white ball gown, and picked out a stunning red dress for their big day at the science museum! The theme in itself had us obsessed – dinosaur meets Superman. Instead of Mark waiting down the aisle for Rachel, he had his own special entrance to the Jurassic Park theme song and Rachel walked into John William’s Superman theme song.
As melo-maniacs, Rachel and Mark wanted to make sure there was LOTS of music involved on their wedding day. The walks down the aisle resemble this already, but they also both jumped on the opportunity to perform songs with their bands! As Rachel describes, “it was a huge party with all our favorite people, and we had a dope epic kiss to the hallelujah chorus.” After lots of convincing certain family members that a not-so-traditional wedding was the way to go, the night ended up being one they will never forget – seriously, neither will we!
One piece of advice this couple wants to give you is, if you can afford to have a wedding planner, invest! Make sure your planner understands the vision that you and your partner have, and allow them to help you plan your dream wedding! It’s your day, plan the wedding how you want to, not how everybody else expects you to.
