How They Met
Reese and Dillon met in high school show choir. At first, Reese simply saw Dillon as a friend, until her 17th birthday at Goochland Drive In. Reese’ best friend set Dillon up to crash and burn, by telling him that she liked him (she’d like to note that she did not). Dillon took the mistaken opportunity to make his move and Reese actually let him! Two days later the two started dating because “why not”.
The Proposal
The couple dated for the rest of high school, and even went to college together. Then, just over 7 years from the night at the drive in, they got engaged. Dillon elaborately planned out the proposal by telling Reese they were getting Christmas card photos taken. Their best friend took the photos at a perfect spot close to where they first met. About 100 yards into their walk, in this little grove of trees, Dillon stopped in a beam of sunlight. (Very nonchalantly saying lets just take the photos here). As a joke, Dillon suggested they should recreate the old high school prom pose. Reese followed along, only to turn around to Dillon on one knee!
The Ceremony
Reese and Dillon’s ceremony was full of personal, unforgettable touches. They were married by their best friend—the “other Dillon”, and Dillon’s grandmothers served as the flower girls. Reese walked down the aisle to Somewhere Over the Rainbow, sung by her high school choir director, while Dillon walked with his mom and best friend. Their reception tables were named after milestones like the years they’d been together, their schools, and their cats’ names. Instead of a bouquet toss or garter dance, Dillon surprised Reese by performing an original song about their love story. A classic Pittsburgh Cookie Table added the sweetest final touch.
A Note From the Couple
“Enjoy being engaged, wedding planning can cause a lot of unneeded stress. Enjoy having everyone your spouse and you love, in one place for a common celebration. It’s truly special.”
