Meet Tatiana, Owner of Simply Charmed Weddings and Events
What makes you or your business stand out and why should a couple hire you?
We truly strive to be our couples wedding planning BFF. On our home page we say “grab a glass of wine, get cozy and breathe, we’ll handle the rest!” and we really try to show that through our process with our clients.
What’s your favorite thing about working in the wedding industry?
Seeing how creative our couples get with their days! Those little individual touches are my absolute favorite. Showing personality is what guests and YOU will remember most about your day!
What’s a unique tip you tell your couples?
So, this is regarding guest lists and I feel at this time of COVID couples are having to slim down their guest lists more than ever so hopefully those reading this find it useful! When thinking about who to invite first think of who you’d take on vacation with you, these are obvious invites. Next, think about who you’d get dinner or lunch with, these people should be invited too. Now, really think about the people you haven’t seen or interacted with outside of work/school, these people may not need to be invited. Consider who you want to see in your wedding photos on your mantle in years to come. This tends to help couples really visualize what relationships are most valuable to have with them on their day.
What’s your best piece of advice for couples planning a wedding?
Hire a wedding planner! I’m totally biased, obviously, but hear me out. Even when I (a wedding planner myself) got married, I hired a coordinator. We aren’t only hired for luxury weddings, which I think is a common misconception. Most of us, myself included, have packages ranging from tying loose ends at the end of planning – all the way to full service planning. Someone should be the point of contact the day-of, there’s too many moving parts not to. If you’re considering having a relative or friend be your coordinator, realize that this person really won’t get to enjoy your day. During the time we are in now, I strongly encourage couples to hire professionals!
What’s your favorite moment during a wedding?
Since becoming a mama, I’ve been a sucker for the mother/son dances! They get me every time!
If you care to share, what’s a funny/awesome story from a wedding you’ve worked?
Once, about 15 minutes before the wedding ceremony, the best man ripped his pants right on the back seam on the butt! My assistant, Ashley, who has worked as a seamstress, sewed his pants right up and the ceremony began on time!
How do you de-stress?
Hiking! I love taking hikes with my family through Shenandoah. I also love cooking and cuddling with my two rescue pitties!
What’s your favorite food/dish/cuisine?
I LOVE Thai food. Drunken noodles are my weakness.
If you were to meet any celebrity, who would it be?
Betty White! I really want to be just like her when I grow up. She’s so cute but sassy!
What is your favorite season of the year and why?
This season! I love winter and holidays. I began watching Hallmark Christmas movies the day after Halloween!
Anything else you want our followers to know?
Planning weddings right now is really tough and I think i speak for all vendors when I say- we get it. We really want to help couples. Reach out to vendors you’re interested and don’t be scared to tell us what you’re worried about with the current climate of things.
