Linden Row Inn
Linden Row Inn is a 70-room boutique historic hotel in the heart of Downtown Richmond. The hotel is comprised of seven row homes built in the mid-1800’s, and meticulously restored over the years and lovingly restored in 1988 as a full-service Inn by Historic Richmond Foundation. Most of the rooms are furnished with antiques from the middle and late 1800’s, and the hotel is proud to be featured on the National Register of Historic Places.
The property features an intimate Garden Courtyard that is perfect for rehearsal dinners, wedding ceremonies, and receptions. Adjacent to the Garden Courtyard and accessible by set of french doors, our Board Room is perfect for smaller, intimate affairs.
Romance has always flourished at Linden Row. As an adolescent, Edgar Allan Poe first courted his lifelong love, Elmira Royster Shelton, on the property where the Linden Row Inn now stands. Poe went on to describe this location as the “enchanted garden” in his famous poem “To Helen." Since then, love has blossomed for countless romantics who have set foot on the property.

Beautiful outdoor reception for springtime
We had the absolute best experience working with Casey who helped us book our wedding reception at Linden Row Inn this past spring. She was responsive and had great recommendations on layout designs or any other questions we had. The courtyard looked gorgeous the night of our wedding with lots of ferns (our favorite) and beautifully landscaped plants. We reserved a block of rooms with the Inn for our guests so they didn’t have to worry about driving anywhere when the reception was over. My husband and I decided to book one of the parlour suites to stay in the night of our wedding and would highly recommend for future brides and grooms. We booked it for the night before as well so that my bridesmaids and I could get ready before the wedding. The parlour suite was very spacious with lots of rooms for the six of us. Unfortunately, Urban Farmhouse had closed right before our wedding took place which would have been convenient for our guests to have breakfast or quick meals, but it really wasn’t a problem at all. There were plenty of restaurants and bars in the area. Linden Row has preferred vendors for their catering so we ended up using A Sharper Palate which did a phenomenal job. Since the weather was looking a questionable the night of our wedding, we went ahead and reserved a tent and lighting through Rent-E-Quip. We really wanted an outdoor wedding so we were a bit bummed to have to put up a tent. However, we were surprised by how beautiful the whole setting looked in the courtyard with the tent. The tents were so tall that you could still see plenty of greenery, minus the tree foliage over top, and we didn’t feel boxed in at all. Fortunately, it didn’t rain until right at 10 pm when our band wrapped up. Linden Row Inn was the perfect setting for our reception - would highly recommend! We can’t thank Casey and her team enough for the amazing work.
We are just thrilled with our experience at Linden Row Inn. We hosted 100 people for our ceremony and reception and the weekend was just perfection. I loved that everyone from out of town was able to stay at the Inn, therefore transportation was taken care of and everyone was together the whole weekend. The location is right in the heart of the city, but you feel like you are in a countryside English garden. All of the rooms are spacious and beautiful, perfect setting for the bridal and groom suites. The garden was stunning, ended up having a clear-roof tent in the garden that accentuated the brick architecture and the abundant greenery surrounding the space.
Casey, the venue manager, was a dream. She was so easy to work with, made us feel so special and cared for, and made sure everything was perfect on our day. The staff at LRI were so helpful and kind as well.
Cannot recommend LRI highly enough and will hold a special place in our hearts for a lifetime!
Casey was wonderful to work with and very informative when it came to our many questions. Not having experience planning weddings she was thorough and very accommodating with our wishes for our event. The staff at Linden Row Inn was very welcoming to us and our guests. The venue itself is beautiful and historical, the charm of the space truly stood out for our ceremony and reception! Urban Farm House was just as welcoming and accommodating for our catering needs. I reserved the Parlor suite for the weekend and it was a perfect fit for my bridal shower and to get ready in on the big day, highly suggest brides to take advantage of this space for photos and day of wedding preparations. We will definitely recommend The Linden Row Inn to friends and family !
I cannot say enough positive things about Linden Row Inn and their staff. My wife and I had our ceremony as well as our reception there. On the day after we couldn't stop talking about how wonderful and how perfect our wedding was. It brings tears of joy to my eyes to think about it!
People always say there will be something that goes wrong, but as I look back I can't recall a single detail that was out of line. I cannot begin to express the gratitude we feel toward Linden Row Inn and their staff. On the day of the wedding everyone was so accommodating and did so with a huge smile on their face. However, being one of the brides, and doing a lot of the planning, I want to specifically call out Casey Watson, the Senior Sales Manager. She was easy to work with and knowledgeable; she made me look like a master at this wedding planning thing. My planning process with Casey and their exclusive caterers, The Urban Farmhouse, was stress-free, truly. They kept all of the details straight, kept to my master plan, and treated all of our guests wonderfully. Because the process was so smooth, on the actual day of our wedding, I was so relaxed because I had full faith in the Linden Row staff.
We also had a room block for all of our guests, and my wife and I stayed in the beautifully appointed Parlor Suite. The rooms do not disappoint. They are charming, comfortable and in the heart of our beautiful city.
You must use The Urban Farmhouse as your caterer if you are planning a full reception there. I will write up a separate review for them, but Mat Lloyd and his staff were absolutely phenomenal to work with. I received happy, happy, positive reviews on the food and setting from all the guests.
Honestly, our wedding was the best day of my life and I have Linden Row Inn, The Urban Farmhouse, their staff and all of our vendors to thank. Thank you for giving us the best celebration of our lives.

My wedding at Linden Row Inn couldn't have been better! Not only was the location exactly what we wanted, but it perfectly accommodated our guests. And the staff were so wonderful to work with. From the first email until the end of our reception, they were on-point, hard working and dedicated to making our wedding vision a reality. I would enthusiastically recommend the Linden Row Inn to anyone wanting to get married in a gorgeous urban setting with a vintage feel and a fantastic staff!
We had our daughter's wedding at Linden Row Inn. We booked over half of the hotel rooms for the weekend and had the ceremony and reception in the courtyard. It was an amazing weekend. The hotel and catering staff were so accommodating and no detail went unattended to. We are so glad we chose Linden Row. We highly recommend them!
Great Experience at Linden Row Inn
If you are looking for something intimate for less that 90 people, I highly recommend Linden Row. A cute courtyard hidden in the midst of Richmond, that's private, cozy, and convenient! Price is great for Richmond, staff are pleasant and easy to work with. I really loved that my out of town friends and family (a majority of our guests) could stay at the hotel and not worry about travel.

Linden Row Inn
Our daughter had her wedding and reception at the Linden Row Inn last October. Overall I would give it an A- or B+. The Inn uses The Urban Farmhouse as their exclusive caterer for all events. There is a small café located at the Inn but the restaurant can handle all their on-site catering needs. The food was Delicious! I think it was reasonably priced and nicely presented. As for the actual Inn, our daughter stayed in one of the historic rooms in the old section the night before the wedding with a few bridesmaids. We also reserved the room for her and her groom on their wedding night. I asked that the room be serviced in the afternoon to make it nice for the wedding night. (The wedding was at 3 p.m.) In any case, housekeeping never serviced their room even though they were still there servicing other rooms at that time. The Inn refunded us $25 for the oversight. They only have outdoor space for large groups. The courtyard is nice, not fancy. We rented the Board room in addition for our food service as there was quite a bit of rain and wind that day. The Inn does not have any tenting to cover their outdoor spaces. You have to contract with one of their preferred vendors to rent a tent cover (if desired) The tent vendors are VERY expensive. I really think the Inn needs to purchase some tents and have their own staff put them up and then charge a reasonable fee if you add them on. In all, it was a good experience.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review about your daughter's wedding weekend here at Linden Row. We are so glad to hear that you enjoyed our in-house cafe & catering through Urban Farmhouse and also appreciate your feedback in regards to the tenting in our outdoor Gardens. We have previously looked into purchasing tents to provide this type of service for our clients, but unfortunately as a Historic Inn we simply do not have the storage space to house the inventory. We are so glad to hear that overall you had a great experience, we loved being a part of Lindsey and Vernon's special day and enjoyed celebrating with your friends and family. We hope to host you again soon!
