Mimosa Lake is located directly across from historic Lunenburg Courthouse. The courthouse was built in the late 1700s and is one of three Thomas Jefferson designed courthouses in the United States. The 300-acre estate boasts a rich past dating back to the 1800s with an impressive legal history. The estate was once the home of Sheriff A.B. Shackleton in the early 1900s. Sheriff Shackleton served as sheriff of Lunenburg County for 50 years and holds the record of longest serving sheriff in the United States. . The centerpiece of the property is the 30-acre private lake backdropped by 300 acres of open fields and evergreen trees providing year-round beauty and privacy for your ceremony. We offer different wedding packages to make your wedding day special and suited to your tastes. Our packages range from weekday weddings for a more intimate ceremony to all-inclusive weekend wedding packages. We have a 7200 sq. ft. rustic barn pavilion with a 420 ft. attached veranda overlooking the lake. We have overnight accommodations for the bridal party at The Bridal Cottage, The Lakehouse on the water is available for rehearsal dinners. There is a man cave overlooking the lake where the groom and groomsmen can get ready for the wedding. The wedding ceremony is held lakeside, an elegant stone aisle lined by wooden pews leads to the Amish built gazebo with a beautiful water fountain in the background. We have seating for 200 guests, which includes 200 folding white chairs, 30 round tables, 6 rectangular tables, a sweetheart table, and an antique oak cake/dessert table. The pavilion has a 12 x 40 ft. stage where the DJ or band can perform with a 12 x 36 ft. oak dance floor in front of the stage. The stage is backdropped by panoramic views of the lake. We also have a day of coordinator to ensure that your wedding day is perfect.
