Navigating Children at Weddings

Tiny Guests, Big Dilemma: Navigating Kids at the Wedding

Planning a wedding and incorporating both the children who may take part in the ceremony and those of the guests can be fun, but also daunting. There are several ways to make sure the young ones have a good time while also maintaining a similitude of control. The adults may then also enjoy themselves while their children are involved in activities. Here are some ideas:

Kids Table

Set up a separate table with age appropriate activities such as coloring books, crayons, puzzles, and games to keep them occupied during the reception.

Hire a professional childcare service

Consider hiring a professional service to provide supervised activities and games during the wedding as well as the reception. Parents can relax and enjoy the festivities while knowing their children are well taken care of.

Kids Menu

The food selected for your guests may be scrumptious, but for children, (who can be a little finicky), you may want to rethink their menu. Offer a different menu at a separate table with child-friendly foods such as chicken tenders, mac and cheese, mini burgers, and pizza. They will not only be well fed, but happy. Also, skip the wedding cake and provide mini cupcakes instead.

Outdoor Activities

If the wedding is outside, set up outdoor activities such as bouncy houses, scavenger hunts, mini golf, bean bag toss, and giant Jenga and Connect Four. Also, a well-managed s’mores bar can be incorporated.

Dancing, Music, and Entertainment

Children like to dance. Consider asking the DJ to incorporate upbeat music that the kids can dance to. You may also hire a clown, balloon artist, or face painter to keep them occupied.

Photo Booth

Set up a photo booth with props for kids to take pictures. This creates memories that will last a lifetime.

Goodie Bags

Prepare goodie bags with small toys, games, and treats. This is a great way to thank the children who are taking part in your wedding, as well as fun for those who are in attendance.

You can ensure that the children will have a great, fun-filled time while also allowing their parents and all of the adults to enjoy your most memorable and beautiful day!
