Victoria and Chris met through a mutual friend group in 2010. The two bonded over “a love of sushi, watching Downton Abbey, and the fact that we always found ourselves dancing together when our friend group went out.” They finally made things official and began dating in 2012. After eight years and surviving the first months of the pandemic together, it was time for the proposal! On Christmas morning in 2020, Chris proposed to Victoria in their Washington, DC condo with a ring designed by her favorite jewelry designer.

When describing the wedding day, Victoria wanted to evoke a classic, romantic, and traditional feel. As an architect and interior designer, she was inspired by the magnificent, historic Richmond buildings for their overall aesthetic. The ceremony was held at Cathedral of the Sacred Heart and the reception at Bolling Haxall House. Victoria describes, “The Cathedral style is Italian Renaissance Revival, and Bolling Haxall House has the architectural styling of an Italianate villa.” Victoria hand-sketched both venues on the save-the-dates and in the invitation suite.

The couple shared, “In addition to the custom elements we incorporated into the decor and styling, our venue locations had special meaning to us. Chris’s father is active in the Knights of Columbus fraternal organization at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart.”

Victoria and Chris valued their guests’ enjoyment during the reception. A pianist played the historic piano in the lobby during cocktail hour, and a jazz band performed west-coast style Jazz on stage during dinner. Dining tables were styled with taper candles set in vintage brass holders and traditionally styled overflowing floral arrangements. Amber lighting set the scene inside the venue at a dim level to create a moody, private atmosphere. The couple’s favorite part of the night was being able to let loose on the dance floor surrounded by their loved ones. “We were super happy that our guests let loose on the dance floor and danced the night away!”
