Meet Amy Loving, Director of Sales and Customer Relations, at The John Marshall Ballrooms! She’s helped countless couples plan the wedding of their dreams at one of Richmond’s prettiest venues. Get to know her today!
How did you get to where you are now?
Suzanne attended a wedding shower I was hosting and told me about the John Marshall being renovated. I was in a totally different field of work and intrigued by the position she was hoping to fill.
What makes you or your business stand out and why should a couple hire you?
There’s something about Richmond and its love of history and keeping buildings like the John Marshall. I watched the renovations from start to finish and nine years later, I still stand in awe of this beautiful building!
What’s your favorite thing about working in the wedding industry?
It sounds cliché, but the best thing is being a part of one the happiest, most special days for my clients. There’s also a nerdy, crazy organized part of me that really likes the problem solving/logistics part that comes with events.
What’s a unique tip you tell your couples?
Eat during the day! Let your timeline run on an -ish schedule (that your vendors keep track of NOT the couple). And, if you forget something, I’m sure it will be ok so don’t stay up all night wondering if you’ll remember to pack a toothbrush.
What’s your best piece of advice for couples planning a wedding?
Hire wonderful vendors!
What’s your favorite moment during a wedding?
When the couple says, this was the best day of my life 🙂
How do you de-stress?
Bubbly on the couch with Nick & Bella.
What’s your favorite food/dish/cuisine?
Grilled Miso Calamari from Osaka and anything Italian (bring on the bread, pasta, & cheese!)
What are your top three favorite movies (or books)?
For books – Blink.
For movies, there’s so many, this is a hard question! I Am Sam (but nobody can be around to witness the insane sobbing). The Impossible (Naomi Watts is a bad ass portraying a true story of a real life bad ass). And, anything I’ve watched a million times with my brother because I love my brother – American Anthem, anything Adam Sandler, Memento
Do you love to travel? If so, what are some must-see destinations?
Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Cinque Terre in Italy, Patagonia, Stonehenge, Ireland, Antelope Slot Canyons.
Do you have a pet? If so, what’s their name and what are they like?
Bella is an 11-year old Pitbull-Boxer mix that I’ve had since she was an itsy-bitsy baby. She’s a thinker, wears a constant expression of worry, loves ice cream, and hates bath time!
What is your most used emoji?
Sideways happy-crying face! 🤣
What is your favorite season of the year and why?
Summer because nothing is more relaxing than sitting near the ocean while the sun warms my skin!
