Amber & Kent
June 26, 2021
Amber and Kent first met when she worked at Bluestone Vineyard and he attended a wine tasting. Though they both went to James Madison University and had crossed paths a few times after, it wasn’t until graduating that their love story began.
When visiting a friend in Richmond, Amber matched with Kent on a dating app and spent almost seven hours together on their first date! Amber immediately called her mom to tell her she was going to marry him, and Kent called a friend to say he was “in trouble” because of how well they hit it off.
They fell in love with exploring wineries. Kent had seven different plans of how to propose to Amber, and always kept the ring on him. On March 7, 2020, they attended the Virginia Wine Festival at Main Street Station. When they went outside and asked a stranger to take their photo, Kent went to “tie his shoe,” pulled the ring out from his sock, and proposed.
It was important for the couple’s wedding to be very personalized. Purple and gold streamers for JMU were thrown as they walked down the aisle, the tables were named after places they loved with notes on what it meant to them, they had pictures placed throughout, and -of course- they had their favorite wine from Elk Island Winery.
Their dogs, Penelope and Eleanor, also played a big part in the day as their flower girl and ring bearer. They were featured as the cake topper, on the cocktail napkins, and even had drinks named after them!
Amber made almost everything for their wedding – from the welcome signs, to the table markers, to the cocktail napkins. Kent’s favorite part of the wedding was seeing Amber’s vision and hard work come together perfectly.
Amber and Kent’s best piece of advice for engaged couples? Try not to stress about little details! Everything will work out in the end.
