Ashley and Ben
November 5, 2021
It was an instant connection when Ben and Ashley first met in August 2019. Their first date was at Chuy’s Mexican restaurant where they spent hours talking and getting to know each other. Ever since that day, Ashley and Ben have been enjoying adventures, trying new foods, and traveling.
Ben proposed to Ashley in Williamsburg, on the Crim Dell Bridge on the William and Mary campus. An old wives’ tale says that if you hold hands while going over the bridge, you’ll be lifelong friends. If you kiss on the bridge, you’ll be lifelong partners! And of course they had to do both.
Ashley and Ben wanted to keep their wedding intimate with their closest family and friends. Their ceremony took place at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, where they were both confirmed.
Oakdale was the perfect setting for their rustic barn reception, with beautiful views and a venue coordinator, Mary Jane, who brought their vision to life. They even had a personal meet-and-greet with the neighboring cows!
While there were so many amazing moments, their favorite was the moonlight dance. After the final song and while others were setting up for their exit, Ashley and Ben shared a special dance on the patio to one of their favorite songs, “Another” by Adam Doleac. This gave them an intimate moment for the two to reflect on their day and appreciate each other.
After the dance, they celebrated once more with their loved ones, who sent them off with a sparkler exit.
What is Ashley and Ben’s best advice for engaged couples? Enjoy the process! It can definitely seem stressful when you’re trying to coordinate and plan for everything, but take a step back and remember why you’re getting married and who you’re doing it with. You and your partner are the most important part of your special day. Accept any help that is given and kindly redirect suggestions or feedback as needed. Remember to enjoy it because it goes by quickly.
