Lynn & Joe
December 4, 2021

Lynn was the admissions director for a skilled nursing facility and Joe was the medical director. They had crossed paths many times, but never officially met until 2017. When Lynn’s father was admitted into the facility, Joe would often come by to check on both Lynn and her father. Joe admired Lynn for always being there for him. When he sadly passed away, Joe waited 30 days to ask Lynn on a date. Though they met under unfortunate circumstances, Lynn still jokes that they picked each other up at a nursing home!

In 2019, after Easter Sunday service at Lynn’s church, Calvary Christian Church, Joe asked her to give him a tour. When they entered the Sanctuary, Joe proposed.

Like many engaged couples in 2020, they had to postpone their wedding because of COVID-19. Lynn and Joe decided to have a small ceremony at Joe’s church, Saint Anthony’s, on June 6 and planned for the big wedding in 2021. As it was Lynn’s first time getting married (that’s right – in her sixties!), it was especially important for her to have family and friends attend.

Lynn and Joe had their ceremony at Calvary Christian Church. During the ceremony, The Silver Leaf Quartet played along with trumpeter Sam Huss. Joe presented Lynn with another diamond wedding band that, to Lynn, will always represent the struggle of having a wedding during a pandemic. The traditional ceremony was followed by an elegant ballroom reception at The Dominion Club.

While Lynn couldn’t decide on her favorite part of the day, Joe’s favorite was the food. As she says, “typical man!”
