How they met / the proposal
Kristen and Scott were made aware of each other via mutual friends that wanted them to meet. Once the timing was right, they were introduced at a birthday party and a double date followed. Scott was fresh off of a breakup and expressed he was interested, but needed some time. After a while, Scott messaged Kristen asking to go out on a date. “I knew pretty quickly into the relationship that he was who I wanted to spend my life with.” After a year and a half Scott proposed. “He told me he had picked up our favorite apple cider donuts for me and when I opened the box, he had placed the ring inside and proposed.”
The venue
Their chosen venue was personal to Kristen. It is her parents farm in the front yard in front of her favorite mimosa tree, surrounded by a peach orchard and strawberry fields. It was a beautiful backdrop with the arbor, made from very old barn wood from Scott’s family farm.
Favorite parts of the day
Kristen shares, “My favorite part was Scott’s vows. He really surprised me with what he wrote and shared. He also agreed that his favorite part was the ceremony, but he really enjoys a good party too. He loves socializing with his friends and family, so that was what he was most looking forward to while we were planning. I also enjoyed how wonderful our DJ was and that he played until midnight for the start of Scott’s birthday, even when it had turned into a much smaller, intimate party by that point.”
Best advice
“Do what makes you happy and don’t get too caught up in the wedding trend of having to have this or that like you see on social media. Stay focused on the reason of why you are even having a wedding.”
