Margaret & Joey

Margaret was in grad school at the time and decided to go on a dog walk down Monument Ave. Right as she was telling a friend that she should ask for guy’s numbers, a handsome man (Joey) pulled up at a stop sign blocking the sidewalk. Margaret complemented his McAfee Knob license plate and swooned so hard she didn’t ask for his number! She searched for his car to leave her number for three weeks, but had no luck. Margaret had apparently made an impression on Joey as well as he had texted two friend groups about the “missed connection.”
It wasn’t until four years after this ‘fall autumn run-in’ that Margaret and Joey met in California! After spending three days together, the texts led to phone calls, and the phone calls led to long-distance dating. Love continued to blossom in two different cities in two different states, Charlottesville, Virginia, and Denver, Colorado.
After two years of dating, Margaret moved to Colorado and soon developed a fondness for Crested Butte, a mountain town where Joey taught her how to ski. On a snowy Christmas Eve amid the pandemic, Joey knelt down and proposed on a bridge in Totem Pole Park.
Their wedding was a celebration of joy and community, even though it was a large event, they wanted it to have a personal touch. They made it a priority that every guest felt loved and appreciated for their role in shaping who they are today. They wanted the thoughtfulness behind the details to shine through, like personal bingo cards and vintage postcards. Margaret’s mom played a vital role in the creative process as she created beautiful sunflower fields, folded paper cranes for a surprise chandelier, and grew an extensive flower garden for guests to create their own bouquets. She also painted murals that were unique to their relationship and prepared homemade desserts for the heirloom dessert bar.
Margaret has a big entrance as she was paddled directly to the wedding by her brothers, where she then married her love, Joey. This was truly the best day of their lives and in the words of Joey, it was “magical”! They pushed through the difficulty of planning a wedding in Virginia while living in Colorado, thrived off the excitement and daydreams, and had the most perfect day they could’ve imagined.
