Baroque-Rococo Wedding at Linden Row Inn

Tricia & Will

10/11/25

For Will and Tricia, the goal was never to create a wedding that simply looked like a wedding. They wanted a celebration that felt unmistakably like them: fun, personal, love-filled and a little bit baroque Rococo Richmond.

From the beginning, the couple made a conscious decision to let go of traditions that didn’t feel meaningful. There was no wedding party, traditional first dance or official cake cutting. Instead, they focused on filling the day with the people, music and details they loved most.

“We didn’t want to do anything just for the sake of tradition or because we were ‘supposed to,’” Tricia says. “We wanted the whole thing to feel like us.”

A Richmond Wedding With a Personal Touch

Linden Row Inn was the perfect setting for their celebration. With friends and family traveling from all over, having everyone stay at the inn made the wedding feel like one big weekend together.

“It’s so Richmond, and centrally located for our local friends, but everyone else could stay on site and it eliminated some logistical planning,” Tricia says. “It was like one big weekend sleepover.”

Ultimately, having everyone they loved in one place was the couple’s favorite part of the day.

“It’s such a rarity, as we have friends scattered all over, but it felt so invigorating,” Tricia says.

Vintage Details & Dutch Still-Life Inspiration

For Tricia, the visual details were an especially important part of the celebration. She was most proud of the tablescapes, which drew inspiration from Dutch master still-life paintings.

Vintage silver and brass vases and bowls, many thrifted by Tricia over the years, including several from her late grandmother’s collection, held flowers, greenery and fruit. Her friend Brittany, a talented floral artist, brought the vision to life.

The couple also created a painted structure for their ceremony. A talented friend built it, and Tricia painted it herself, adding another deeply personal touch.

A Soundtrack Full of Memories

Music became another way for Will and Tricia to tell their story. The couple created a continuous playlist for cocktail hour, dinner and dancing, filled with songs that held special meaning throughout their relationship.

Rather than a traditional first dance, they simply let the music and celebration unfold naturally.

At the end of the night at Linden Row Inn, the B-52s’ “Love Shack” closed out the evening before everyone headed to Patrick Henry’s for the afterparty.

Friends at the Heart of It All

Some of the most meaningful elements came directly from the couple’s closest friends.

Will’s best friend officiated the ceremony, while a dear college friend played keyboard and learned a list of meaningful songs specifically for the occasion. Tricia’s three best friends helped with her hair, captured priceless film photographs while she got ready and gave a heartfelt toast after dinner.

Even the flowers and ceremony structure were created by friends.

The result was a celebration that felt collected, creative and completely personal—not a wedding built around tradition, but one built around the people and things that mattered most to them.

Their advice to other couples?

“Don’t let anyone talk you into things that don’t feel right for you!”
