Real RVA Wedding: Mary Beth & Chris
Mary Beth & Chris
March 7, 2015
Mary Beth and Chris met at a mutual friend’s barbeque. Mary Beth says she recognized Chris because she knew his younger brother and wanted to introduce herself. Chris jokingly says that she cornered him and the rest is history.
The two got engaged after choosing a custom ring based on a 1920s estate piece that Mary Beth has found a year earlier. The ring, however, took nearly seven months longer than expected, and their jeweler felt so bad about the wait that they sent Mary Beth and Chris to Palm Beach for a post-engagement celebration!
Mary Beth says, “I wanted to use the bold colors of the peacock to bring the whole wedding together – emerald green, royal blue, and antique gold!” The couple took a great deal of care to create invitations, signage and programs that truly reflected their personalities and their wedding style.
Both Mary Beth & Chis have had family members get married in the Cathedral and family that attended the old Cathedral School, so the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart here in Richmond was a natural choice for their ceremony.
Mary Beth & Chris carried the peacock color scheme throughout their wedding with some beautiful details. They also hired a caricaturist for a unique twist, a bourbon bar as a nod to Mary Beth’s Kentucky roots and bold peacock color scheme to make their wedding an elegant affair with a posh twist.
When it came to planning their wedding, Mary Beth and Chris wanted to throw a party where they could have all of their friends and family in one place having the time of their lives. They certainly accomplished this – months later, their guests are still talking about it!
For the reception, Chris showed off his sense of style with a snappy white dinner jacket.
After the dances, Mary Beth surprised everyone by taking off the bottom of her dress to reveal a beautiful, short lace dancing number that also served as her getaway dress!
