Real Richmond Wedding: Brittany and Justin’s Farm Wedding
Brittany and Justin
September 8, 2018
How They Met
Brittany and Justin first met on Tinder, where they swiped right on each other, agreeing to a first date at Postbellum. Although Brittany showed up 40 minutes late, they still hit it off immediately. Brittany jokes, “My friends still call him Justin Tinderlake!”
Justin proposed to Brittany in late February of 2017. Brittany, who’s an auditor, was finishing up her busy season and thought she was planning a get together in Charlottesville to celebrate her work winding down. Brittany’s sister and her boyfriend came along, but they and Justin had other plans. At their first winery stop, Justin suggested that they go take a picture together. Afterward, Brittany was walking to see how the picture turned out when Justin pulled her back, and that’s when she knew it was happening. While neither of them really remembers exactly what was said, Justin proposed, and Brittany said yes. They celebrated the rest of the day in Charlottesville, eventually meeting up with their parents, another surprise to Brittany.
When picturing their perfect day, Brittany saw a barn wedding where they could extend the celebration into a wedding weekend. “I wanted a romantic rustic wedding theme with natural wood accents and beautiful flower arrangements.” Their colors were lovely with ivory, various shades of blush, navy, gold, and lots of greenery.
Splurging on the focal points of their reception, they dedicated a large portion of their budget to florals, especially their gorgeous moon gate; a circular floral structure adorned with luscious greenery and acting as the backdrop for their ceremony and pictures. All looking perfect thanks to Kim Moody Design.
The couple’s favorite moments of the night were both on the dance floor. For Justin, it was their first dance, as they tricked their guests with a Juvenile song (quickly changing it to their favorite Jason Aldean song). And for Brittany, it was her mother-daughter dance. “She and I are very close, and she worked so hard to give me the wedding of my dreams.”
Their rustic night was perfectly planned and perfectly them. Brittany’s advice to future brides? “Spend money on the things that are most important to you…and savor EVERY minute of the process. It flies by and it’s such an exciting time in your lives!”
“Narrowing down the wedding guest list. I think this should be the first step, even before you pick the wedding venue! Also, finalizing the seating chart. We spent a ton of time on it!”
Best Piece of Advice
“Spend money on the things that are most important to you. For me, it was focal points. Hire a videographer and savor every minute of the process, the engagement parties, wedding showers, wedding planning (even all of the stress), and of course the big day. It flies by and it’s such an exciting time in your lives!”
