Real Richmond Wedding: Jessica and Garrett’s Cidery Wedding

How They Met
Jessica and Garrett met just a few years ago in 2017. They connected through a dating app called Bumble which led them to their first date at The Answer, a local Richmond brewpub. Jessica describes, “It was pretty much love at first sight!”

The Proposal
The couple’s love of local breweries and cideries didn’t stop on their first date. Garrett planned a surprise proposal at Blue Bee Cider. “It was absolutely magical and took me COMPLETELY by surprise.” Garrett had friends photograph and film the proposal, and even their dog joined in!

The Details
Jessica and Garrett kept their wedding sweet, simple, and intimate. They chose Blue Bee Cider as their venue for the big day. “Not only is the venue gorgeous with its earthy feel, but that’s where he proposed!”

The whimsical theme they chose paired perfectly with the relaxed atmosphere of the venue. Greenery and lighting were key elements in their décor and helped accomplish the boho feeling they were after. “Our flowers were AMAZING. We wanted a lot of greenery. We did greenery on our tables along with candles. We did sitting areas versus a lot of tables and chairs to make it more comfortable and relaxed. We added lighting across the top of Blue Bee which really made the venue glow.” For their colors they went with blush, slate blue, navy, and champagne, going for a muted and soft look.

“We wanted a fun and relaxed wedding!” Keeping things intimate, they had their ceremony officiated by The Chaplin where Jessica works and incorporated a special handfasting ceremony.

For food, they went with a barbecue food truck provided by Capt. Rob’s Pigalicious Barbecue. They ended the night full, happy, and having fun with their closest family and friends!

Favorite Part of the Day
“The entire wedding was our favorite. It’s so hard to pick a specific part!”

Biggest Challenge 
“I had an amazing wedding planner. She handled every little thing and if there were hiccups, she was already on it before I could even stress.”

Best Piece of Advice
“I highly suggest a wedding planner if it is in your budget! Try not to stress and have fun!”
