Richmond Weddings Shannon and Stephen

Shannon and Stephen

October 28, 2016

Their love story

Shannon and Stephen met in high school. He was the star football player and she a cheerleader. Stephen had no idea that Shannon had a major crush on him, as she was very shy.

Stephen, two years older than Shannon graduated and went off to Bridgewater College. Shannon said “At this point, I knew there was no chance for us.” It wasn’t until another couple of years later when Shannon was at The University of Mary Washington that the two connected via Facebook!” Stephen, being the perfect gentleman got her phone number and asked her on a date. It was dinner and a movie – they knew this was the start of their forever together.

The proposal

Stephen tricked Shannon into believing they were going to take photos with her best friend and husband (and two god-children whom Shannon was crazy about!) since they were moving away. On this day in January, they walked around downtown Fredericksburg along the river. With snow still on the ground, Stephen started telling Shannon how much he loved her and quoted bible scriptures that pertained to marriage. He gave her roses, dropped to his knee and asked her to marry him! She was so happy her bestie and family were there for that moment. Shannon says it was “the best day ever!”

The big day

The couple wanted the theme for the day to be class and elegance. Flowers were white hydrangeas, white roses, and blush pink roses and tables were ivory with black runners and beautiful pink arrangements with low candles. They even had 25 doves released as they were pronounced husband and wife to WOW their guests!

Their favorite part

Shannon – walking down the aisle towards Stephen, knowing with every step she was closer to becoming his wife.

Stephen – seeing Shannon walk down the aisle.

Their biggest challenge

Our biggest challenge was guests not sending in their RSVP’s by deadline. They may not realize the undue stress this causes at the last minute.

Best advice

So many people say, “Enjoy the day”. This is so true – the day flies by. Just remember to take it all in and enjoy every moment of your special day.
