Tell us a little about your company
We offer Full Service Planning, Month/Day Of Wedding Coordination Service, and Professional DJ Service. We are licensed, insured, certified, and experienced. I received my Bachelors of Art from the University of Richmond, where I also received my certification in Wedding Planning. With a staff of 4, we provide expertise in different areas. Patrice is a lead planner and an accomplished artist who specializes in Eco Friendly Weddings. She received her Bachelors in Environmental Studies at James Madison University. Matthew Weiser is also an artist and DJ that has collected over 5,000 vinyls in his free time! When he is not working weddings, he is owner of his own General Contracting Company. He is a lead coordinator and handles all the day-of set ups! Tony Miller is our lead DJ and very talented when it comes to logistics. He is an avid music lover and enjoys spinning tunes!
How did you get started in this business?
I have always been in the service industry. I just love everything to do with weddings! I started off working banquets and bartending for weddings as a side job while I was the wedding coordinator and service manager at a local florist. I am still a certified bartender with tips training. I have been planning weddings for friends and family for over 30 years and I still love being a part of this special day for all my couples.
What’s your favorite wedding story?
There are so many favorite love stories but one of my favorite is Micah and Crane. I meet Micah at the Richmond Weddings™ Show. Crane was a surgeon in the United States Army and unfortunately, he was notified he would be deployed prior to the wedding. We had to move the date up and now had 2 weeks to pull off this magical union! Everyone pitched in and these two love birds said their vows at Linden Row Inn and we partied the night away at the VMFA! We have remained friends and their love story remains one of my favorites!
Why do you like working with weddings?
I just love weddings. I love being a part of one of the happiest days in a couples life. I still get goose bumps and cry at every ceremony! I have such a hard time sleeping the night before a wedding, the anticipation and excitement of the day to come is an experience that never gets old.
What is the most difficult situation you have faced with a couple and how did you resolve it?
I have never had a difficult situation with a couple. But if I did, I am sure it would be handled with the utmost respect and every avenue of resolution would be traveled.
From a vendor’s perspective, what is the one best piece of advice you can offer to engaged couples?
The best advice I offer to all my couples is to make sure the vendors hired are professional, licensed, insured, and can provide references from recent couples. Saving money on cheap vendors can cost a lot more in the long run. We actually started our DJ service as “SAVE THE DAY DJ” because many couples found that the friend or craigslist DJ they hired for $200, did not show up! You would be shocked at how many of these unprofessional vendors get hired and don’t show.
How far in advance should couples book your services?
It would be nice to have all weddings booked within a year of the date. That gives me the ability to guide my brides and since I offer unlimited 24/7 correspondence, it gives the couples the ability to discuss ideas, vendors, and logistics throughout the entire process, which makes for a better planned wedding. However, I have worked Day Of Service one week prior and our DJ service has been hired on the DAY OF!
What inspires you the most / where do you find inspiration?
I am inspired by the creating process. I am an artist and enjoy the journey of creating individual experiences for all my couples. I find my inspiration in their love stories!
What do you like to do when you are away from work?
I enjoy painting, and playing with my dogs Penny and Lucy and my grand-dogs Greta and Shilo! Animals are the best and just love it when a bride incorporates her pet into her big day! I also like to travel and listen to music.
What would we be surprised to learn about you?
You may be surprised to know that I took a class to get my CDL. It was very hard and I will never drive a tractor trailer but I LOVE to learn new things! I think everyone who drives should have to ride in an 18 wheeler just see how hard it is to turn and stop. I bet people would be more cautious around them.
