Say hello to Chad & Sarah Taylor with Historic Whitewood. This darling couple tells us all about how they made their dreams into reality. Learn more about this family-owned private estate and why this is the perfect wedding venue for YOU!
If you care to share, how did you get to where you are now? We met working as servers at Palermo restaurant. One day the restaurant closed due to snow. The wait staff decided to take a spontaneous ski trip to Wintergreen. We had a great time together on that trip and decided to go on a date when we got home. Shortly after, we left the restaurant industry for full time careers in teaching and new home sales but service has always been our passion. Chad proposed on a trip in the Bahamas in January of 2013. We got married that same year. We had a beautiful fall wedding in October, on a family friends farm in Powhatan. Having a farm of our own and hosting events was a dream of ours from the start of our marriage. Three kids and almost nine years later, we are working to make that dream become a reality!

We are family-owned, very private estate with over 100 acres, full on-site salon, swanky groom’s den, and horse-trailer bar just to name a few. We believe in offering you the finest, most relaxed atmosphere possible. This includes providing you, and your vendors, ample time for set up, celebration, and tear down. Therefore, the private and expansive 108-acre estate at Historic Whitewood is exclusively yours for the entire weekend of your wedding. We strive to provide you, and your attendants, a first-class, unmatched venue experience.
What’s your favorite thing about working in the wedding industry? Can you think of a happier day? We love working in the wedding industry because it is full of so much joy and celebration.
What’s a unique tip you tell your couples? We love when couples have dancing shoes or more casual shoes to change into. It changes the whole vibe when the guests see the newlyweds are ready to dance!
What’s your best piece of advice for couples planning a wedding? Your wedding day is for the two of you. Try to make decisions without the influence of others’ opinions.
What’s your favorite moment during a wedding? The moment the bride enters the aisle and everyone turns to see!
What’s your favorite food/dish/cuisine? Our favorite food is Cater2Events sweet potato ham biscuits!
What’s a fun or unusual fact about you? Fun fact! We live on the venue property and have three children – Easton 7, Tegan 5 and Goldie- 5 months old.
What’s the coolest thing you’re working on now? The coolest thing we are working on is a bourbon garden. There is a southern tradition, that you visit your venue site a month before your wedding and bury a full bottle of bourbon upside down. This is supposed to ward off rain and bring you good fortune as a married couple. Then you dig it up on your wedding day and enjoy!
Do you have a pet? If so, what’s their name and what are they like? (be sure to send us a pics of them!) We have 2 dogs – Moseley & Warren as well as a rabbit named Sprinkles and several chickens. Our favorite hen is named Honey.
What is your most used emoji? We love the blue heart emoji. It’s a Historic Whitewood staple. It reminds us of the blue stone patio, sparking blue pool, endless blue sky and the blue and white decor in the guest house here on the property.
What is your favorite season of the year and why? Our favorite season is Fall. Outdoor activities such as hiking, fishing, hunting and 4-wheeling are family favorites. The cool crips fall air is perfect for outdoor fun and the property is absolutely stunning that time of year.
What’s your favorite family tradition? We collect Christmas Ornaments from places we have gone or special activities we have done throughout the year, for each child. Then when they get married – they will have a tree full of childhood memories.
