How They Met
Aaron and Rebecca met on a dating app while they were undergrads at William & Mary in September 2016. On their first date at The Cheese Shop, they bonded over their love of the social sciences and museums.
The Proposal
After finishing their BAs, they dated long-distance (and watched many Studio Ghibli movies together). The couple moved to Northern Virginia in 2022. In September 2023, they walked into Brilliant Earth and designed Rebecca’s engagement ring together.
The Unique Element
It was important to Rebecca and Aaron that they had elements from Aaron’s Episcopal family and Rebecca’s Jewish and Episcopal family. One of their favorite parts of the process was designing their own ketubah, which they did during a class with 18 Doors. The couple chose to print a unique ketubah text in English and Yiddish without gendered language, in order to put a spin on tradition. Rebecca also had the unique privilege of shopping for her wedding look at Blue Sage Bridal with her sister Ellie, who is a Master Stylist there.
The Favorite Part
Rebecca has a hard time choosing, but she loved watching Aaron and the bridal parties (including Gigi, a dachshund ring bearer) walk down the aisle to music from Porco Rosso. Aaron loved the first look and privately reading vows in the ruins of the gristmill.
