How They Met
Jessica met George during the pandemic. Jessica was out of town celebrating her birthday weekend and didn’t know that would be the birthday that “blessed our broken roads to meet.” Along with a friend, Jessica made her way to a cute venue for drinks where she began chatting it up with the “sexiest man in the place” and quickly lost interest when he noted that he was from Louisiana. Not that Jessica didn’t LOVE Louisiana (literally her favorite state) but because she was not interested in long distance . As Jessica proceeded to exit the discussion he asked where she was from to which she replied; “it doesn’t matter this isn’t going anywhere.” Reluctantly she shared that she was from Richmond, but living in “757”, when George excitedly explained he was actually living in Hampton Roads! They’ve been inseparable ever since.
The Proposal
One morning Jessica was in the kitchen cooking breakfast still trying to get back on her regular routine since returning from a trip. George came up behind her and asked “if I really need to tell you something; and it could be bigger and more vibrant if I wait to ask you later; but God is telling me to ask you now – would you be ok?” In Pjs, robes, slippers and socks and in front of her mother, George got down on one knee and asked Jessica to be his wife.
The Wedding
The entire experience was beautifully non-traditional, centered around a small, deeply meaningful celebration that reflected who they are. More than any décor or moment, the couple wanted themselves to be the “wow”, a living demonstration of a love so deep and pure, celebrated and embraced by two people who had been torn down, rebuilt by Christ, and completely covered in His love.
Advice From The Couple
“Our advice is simple. Know that you are worthy of love and then start acting like it! Prepare for what you desire. Love the version of who your spouse was – because it’s a part of their history; love the version they are today – as they keep writing their story; and love their future version as it’s already been written by the Creator, we’re just trying to make our way each and every day. Put God and your spouse first. All others, align. Teamwork makes the Team Work.”
