Samantha and Jonathan at Mankin Mansion

October 1, 2022

Samantha and Jonathan share a lot of the same passions, but the ones that brought them together was the love of art and music. A poster caught Samantha’s eye at a concert and she was told that Jonathan was the artist. After few conversations about a shared love for art and music, they continued on friends until Jonathan moved to Northern Virginia, where the two hit it off and started dating!

Jonathan and Samantha embarked on a rescheduled trip to Colorado in 2021. On the second half of the trip, they went to Rocky Mountain National Park with friends who lived in the area. On one of the scenic lookouts, Jonathan proposed and Samantha was completely taken by surprise.

When envisioning the wedding the idea was for it to to feel serendipitous. The vision was brought to life by adding greenery and hanging baskets from the ceiling, while implementing some favorite pieces from their living room to really make it feel like home. Their shared interests  were incorporated throughout the day to let personality shine through. Books like Lord of the Rings, Calvin and Hobbes, and drawings from Jonathan himself were scattered throughout.  Everybody who knows Samantha and Jonathan knows that they love Star Wars, so obviously lightsabers and masks were props for the photo booth. The couple wanted the day to feel classy but with a lot of nods to what they truly love as a couple.

After saying I do’s, the celebration began with a live band performance and brought the night to a close with a private last dance. The last dance was actually Samantha and Jonathan’s favorite moment of the day, the intimate moment after all the chaos and fun really rounded out the night.

“…a lot of our guests couldn’t make it. I would say going into a wedding just be prepared to go with the flow and not stress about things changing last minute. It might happen but it will end up beautiful. Nobody will notice the little things that go wrong … Live in the moment and know it will be perfect no matter what happens!”
