Scout and Beau at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts

May 3, 2025

Scout and Beau’s story began in the summer of 2019 at the University of Virginia. Beau was visiting one of his close friends for the weekend, who also happened to be one of Scout’s best guy friends. What started as a casual introduction slowly turned into something more, and by November 2020, they officially began dating.

For two years, their relationship was defined by long distance and late-night phone calls as they built their careers. After completing her first travel nursing contract, Scout made the move to be closer to Beau. From that point on, they were inseparable, building a life side by side.

On April 14, 2024, Beau planned what Scout believed was a simple afternoon of graduation photos at the University of Richmond. As a soon to be law school graduate, he asked her to join him so they could take a few photos together. After walking the campus, they stopped in front of the chapel. Earlier that morning, Beau mentioned bringing “props” for the pictures, so when he stepped away to grab something from his bag, Scout thought nothing of it. Seconds later, he was on one knee. Through tears, she listened as he told her how much he loved her and wanted to spend the rest of their lives together. She said yes without hesitation.

The celebration unfolded at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, a setting that felt both grand and meaningful. Among the most personal touches of the day was Scout’s sister serving as officiant. Instead of opting for a traditional pastor, they chose someone who knew their story firsthand. She wove in memories, shared inside moments, and spoke about their relationship with an intimacy no one else could replicate. The ceremony felt less like a formality and more like a reflection of who they truly are.

Scout’s vision centered on florals that would make a statement. Sculptural arrangements transformed the museum space, blending romantic blooms with artistic structure that complemented the setting beautifully.

Their advice to couples is simple. Do not dwell on the small details and just enjoy the moment. At the end of the day, you are marrying your best friend, and that is what matters most.
