Real RVA Wedding: Brittany & Bradley
Brittany & Bradley
May 30, 2015
How did you meet?
We met during Octoberfest at Longwood University, where we both attended college.
Tell us about your proposal!
While visiting Las Vegas, we took a helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon that included landing at the Canyon base for a private catered lunch. While exploring the Canyon, I told Brad that I would love to find a cool rock from the Canyon to take home. He agreed to help search and called me over to check out the rock he found. As I got closer, I noticed him down on one knee, expressing his love and wish to spend the rest of our lives together. Needless, to say I came home with a “rock” and a fiance!
Why did you pick the venues that you chose?
After searching for months from mountains to bay to find our perfect venue, we discovered Cousiac Manor. We loved that Cousiac was so rich in history and landscape. It offers 180 degree views of the Pamunkey River, and the historic plantation home adds character to the new Rose Mallow Barn. Our guests enjoyed marvelous scenery throughout our wedding!
What inspired your wedding decor?
We knew two things right away: we wanted an outdoor wedding, and we wanted a barn! The rustic theme was very fitting for our venue, and I love anything old and historic.
I wanted my guests to notice the little details that most guests overlook. My mom and I spent countless hours styling my wedding down to the smallest detail, and my dad constructed an entry from antique glass pane doors that were closed and then opened as he escorted me down the aisle.
What was your absolute favorite part of the day?
My favorite part of the day was celebrating with my husband, our family, and our friends on the dance floor!
