Meet Emily Prussock, Event Coordinator with The John Marshall Ballrooms. Emily truly loves what she does! When planning an event, she loves knowing she had a little part of making someone’s special day everything they wanted and more!

What makes you or your business stand out?
What I love about working at The John Marshall Ballrooms and with Amy, our Director of Sales and Customer Relations, is that we all truly love what we do! There are many details and pieces that go into planning an event, but with a positive attitude and great co-workers, we always get the job done. I love that here at The John Marshall Ballrooms, we pride ourselves in offering high-quality service and an exceptional experience for each of our clients! Couples should consider us for a venue choice if they are looking for a team of positive and dedicated events staff to make their day go smooth!

What’s a weird/unusual tip you tell your couples?
Try to eat before your reception! Most couples are so busy once the festivities begin they never get a chance to eat all the yummy food they paid for! And, once the drinks start flowing, you will definitely wish you had eaten! We provide each of our couples with the opportunity to escape for a period of time to eat Dinner or just Hors D’oeuvres and sip on some champagne! A little alone time during the busy day is always a necessity.

What’s your favorite thing about what you do?
My favorite thing about being in the events industry is being a part of making someone’s special day be everything they ever wanted and more! Some of these events only happen once in a lifetime and will be filled with so many memories they will cherish forever. It warms my heart to be just a small part in making them happen!

How did you get to where you are now?
While attending VCU, I was Annalise Bridal Boutique’s first intern! I stayed on with Lindsey and the team after completing my internship and still work with the boutique today! During my time as a Bridal Consultant, I truly fell in love with the wedding industry. Through networking, I was able to land this job at The John Marshall Ballrooms!

What’s something every couple should know before getting married?
Remember this day is about you! Things can and will happen, and sometimes not as planned. You hired amazing people to help when these things happen so breathe and enjoy your day!

What’s your go-to spot to eat in RVA?
Is Chick-fil-a an option? lol. My go-to spot would definitely be Joe’s Inn! I love the family business feel and they have yummy brunch and pasta!

What did you want to be when you were little?
I always wanted to be a teacher!

What was your first job?
A hostess at a restaurant on the beach where I grew up!

What do you like to do when you are away from work?
When I am away from work I love spending time at the beach, with family, traveling to new destinations, or laying on my couch with a good book

What’s the coolest thing you’re working on now?
Outside of being an event coordinator and bridal consultant, I also started my own fashion blog! I majored in fashion merchandising at VCU and wanted to find a way to incorporate that into my life post-graduation. So I decided to take the leap and started this adventure almost a year ago! It’s very exciting and I hope to see it continue to grow! Follow Along at www.whatagirlwears.com.

What would be in your dream sandwich?
My dream sandwich is ANYTHING from Secret Sandwich Society but in particular, I love “The Hoover” Fried Chicken and Honey Butter on a Toasted Bun. Umm yes please!

What about Nachos?
Everything! Cheese, Beans, Meat, Lettuce, Sour Cream, Avocado, Jalapenos! I love it all.
