What makes you or your business stand out and why should a couple hire you?
If you are looking for good food and plenty of it, we’ve got you covered! At Tarrant’s West our motto is “Hospitality to a Fault.” No matter if your event is a small bridal luncheon for 15 guests or an off-site catering event for 300 guests, our friendly staff will go above and beyond to cater to your needs. Tarrant’s West brings upscale but affordable neighborhood dining and catering service to Richmond’s community.
What’s your favorite thing about what you do?
I love that I am able to create an experience for people and facilitate a relaxed and happy environment. My favorite part is once the event starts the guests start commenting on how beautiful the room looks, how delicious the food is, or how they will be back soon!
How did you get to where you are now?
I went to J. Sargeant Reynolds for Catering & Hospitality Management. After school, I started my career as a catering assistant, setting up, serving, and breaking down events. I took a couple of weeks off when I had my son at age 20 and then started searching desperately for a management job. A Richmond hotel took a chance and gave me my first Catering Sales job where my career took off.
I flip-flopped for a few years between the hotel world and the catering world until I landed at Tarrant’s West. I love how we do a mix of everything here at RVA Hospitality. I am able to use my experience to help with large off-site events, community events, weddings, corporate events, etc. instead of focusing on one type of event. I love them all!
What’s something every couple should know before getting married?
I am not married so I am not sure I should be giving advice. LOL!
What’s your go-to spot to eat in RVA?
Tarrant’s West, Max’s On Broad or Bar Solita – duh! Or Mexico Restaurant… I could eat Mexican food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
What did you want to be when you were little?
For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to be an event planner.
What was your first job?
My first job ever was a shampoo girl at a hair salon and it was the WORST. Definitely not the job for me!
What did you eat for breakfast this morning?
Veggie Quiche. Delicious!
Where is your happy place?
My happy place is with my family, no doubt about it. My 9-year-old son (Connor), boyfriend (Danny), and his two girls (Kam & Kyndall) are my world. I love our modern family! We love anything outdoors – trips to Gaga’s lake house, hiking in the mountains, hanging out at the pool, grilling out (we LOVE cooking and eating… I’m a bigger fan of the eating part). My boyfriend is the Chef, I am the Sous Chef I suppose. Hmmm.. what else? I love our kitten Luna and bearded dragon Spike too.
What show are you currently binging?
Newest/Oldest obsession is re-watching Survivor. Yes, like from the ’90s (I think). It is hilarious to me to watch the changes over the years (not in just the challenges/obstacles, but the hairstyles). I am hooked on the show all over again!
What’s the coolest thing you’re working on now?
I love refinishing furniture. I am currently in Pinterest-mode on how to make our bearded dragons cage COOLER. We want to build it into a piece of furniture instead of just the aquarium.
What would be in your dream sandwich?
Probably something Mexican!
What about dream Nachos?
Steak. Cheese. Green Onions. Salsa. Guacamole. Spicy Sour Cream. Jalapenos (must have!)
What’s your go-to dance move?
Now that I type it out… I guess it’s a version of raising the roof, which is very embarrassing.
