Shannon & Will

February 4, 2017

How they met
Shannon & Will met at Longwood University. Since they were both History majors, Shannon noticed Will around their small campus very often, but they didn’t officially meet until sophomore year. One evening in January 2014, Will and Shannon sat talking with each other for hours after visiting with mutual friends. It was snowing heavily, so Will offered to walk Shannon home. They had their first kiss on the snow-covered campus that night!

The proposal
Two years later, the two went hiking with a friend in Shenandoah National Park. Shannon says, “As someone who is not a hiker, I was getting tired, but Will and our friend kept telling me it would be worth it when I got to the top of the mountain. Once we made it to the top, our friend told us to pose for a picture. Will got down on one knee in the freezing cold to propose to me. I was so surprised!” She immediately said yes!

The big day
Being a big fan of color, Shannon wanted to make sure she had the right combination for her wedding. After seeing a great color combo in a store window, she was set on deep purple with sea foam green, ivory, and other accents. With the help of friends and family, Shannon & Will worked tirelessly to make their DIY wedding go off without a hitch. The bride says, “Planning was difficult for me, as I did not have a wedding coordinator or wedding planner. Luckily, I had a lot of help from my sister and bridesmaids with DIY projects. Family and friends helped with the food and other aspects. Everything ended up working out exactly as I had hoped!” The day after their wedding was Super Bowl Sunday, so the two invited friends over for a Super Bowl party to cap off a perfect weekend!
